GPA is th author of the book, The Confessional Heart of a Man
The Confessional Heart of a Man is game changer for the genre of poetry. Unlike most books of poetry that focus on a solitary theme, The Confessional tackles various subjects. The poems in my book delve into love, lust, rejection, breakups, growing pains, family relations, marital situations, adultery, race, and social issues. The Confessional Heart of a Man does not come over the top with metaphors or punchlines. It just is what it is, and that is an awesome book of poetry. (read an excerpt)

A Norwegian businessman, Tom Brungar, and his increasing addiction to prescription pills and then cocaine while vacationing in Ibiza led him into a cartel and ultimately Mexican prisons for five years during the 1980s. At an early age, Tom was a ski champion for the Norwegian King's team and received a college scholarship college in Colorado, USA. He earned his business degree, was hired by an American company and promoted up the corporate ladder toward his newly discovered goal of "The American Dream". He began taking prescription drugs to keep up with the fast pace, pressure and world travel. Upon reaching a point of exhaustion, Tom chartered a plane to Ibiza, separated from his wife, went on a long drunk and was introduced to cocaine and a world of high-end dealers. He was swayed into the drug business, wanted out but was blackmailed into one last deal and arrested along with his partner at the Mexico City airport, while smuggling cocaine from Peru to California. He then served five years in a series of Mexican prisons, where he quickly found that corruption is just as rampant as in the outside world. Prisoners are forced to pay extortion for humane living conditions. Men are beaten and starved. Half of his time was in four prisons in Mexico City and the remainder on the notorious Islas des Marias or "The Hell of the Pacific". Roney McIntyre is the author of the book, "The Price of Life: Breaking strongholds and Building self-esteem.”
We all search for answers and explanations for things we experience in life. The Price of Life by Roney McIntyre, Jr., walks us through emotions and gives us truth with power and compassion.
The Price of Life presents a collection of poems that are deeply felt and emotionally charged. Each piece reflects a different side of the author and tackles themes as diverse as love, depression, the state of America, firsthand accounts of hurricane Katrina, and the plight of African-Americans in modern society.
In “Losing Love,” “My Dream Girl,” and “Sun Sets for the Moonlight,” he launches us off with love in its most vulnerable and affectionate state. Meanwhile, in “Off Is,” and “Environmental Neglect,” the author paints an evocative picture of why there’s so much waste and corruption in society. Poems like “Replacements” and “Instinctively” show the author’s versatility and concern for young women as he reaches out to everyone and explains promiscuous behavior as it pertains to low self-esteem and a lack of real love.
Mr. McIntyre is truly a gifted writer with a mission to educate people from all walks of life with his masterful collection of poetry in The Price of Life. (read more)
