Reading was always something I enjoyed. I favor horror/ vampire stories, and even though there are many, I never found a good book that relates to African American urban hood horror. I started researching various obscure African originated myths, and inspired by them, day dreamed a bloody, crazy tale into existence. This is my first book, and part 1 of a series, with GANGPIRE II to be released October 2014. I hope you take a ride into this dirty, twisted, and comedic story with me. My favorite writers are too many to name, and tend to change, but Chuck Palahniuk and Blake Crouch are usually on top of that list.

I have to say that the Edgar Allan Poe's Tales had a big influence on me.

Thomas Barr Jr. resides in Miami Florida and is a huge fan of the Miami Heat basketball team. He began writing while a student at Bethune Cookman University and wrote professionally after graduate school. He is fond of doing community service with the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. When not writing he does personal research in historical American biographies and sport fishing. Native Son is my favorite book because it exposes the urban life environment of the major cities in the United States.

When I was in 8th grade, I read Richard Wright’s “Native Son” When I read that book, I felt that it was life changing for me. I knew that I wanted to one day write something that could have the same effect on people.

I can't possibly say I have 1 favorite book. There are just too many. Like, this month? 

I'm fairly new to the publising world and I love every bit of it.  It's just a matter of time before I can quit my day job and do what I love to do...write!  Since publising my first novel, Cayenne Peppa, it's been an interesting journey to say the least; but, I wouldn't trade this journey for anything.  I'm a single mother of a teenage daughter.  We live in the San Francisco Bay Area where the beaches and panaramic views are ideal for clearing the mind and opening it up to creativity.  I am a Twitter & Instagram virgin but I'm slowly learning the importance of utilizing both.  

My favorite book is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.  I fell in love with this book and became a fan of the author/poet many years ago.  Ms. Angelou's extraordinary gift with words, language, observation, and detail blew me away the first time I read it.  I admire the author's technique in description.  I naturally bare a similar gift but nothing close to Ms. Angelou's.  For example, and only for example, instead of actually saying "It is dark now." Ms. Angelou may say somthing like, "The sun no longer presented itself to the naked eye.  It had been at least an hour before God's golden earthwarmer took a bow and introduced its brother, the full moon."  Something like that.  I love this book and I never get tired of readiing it. 

I am a mother of four, who was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I know reside in Atlanta, Georgia, and I'm an author of seven books published under G Street Chronicles; which is based in the same area. My stories include: Anybody Can Get It, Anybody Can Get It II {Retribution}, Heartless, Heartless 2 {Still Grimy}, Miserable Matrimony, Deadly Divorce, and the anthology Chaotic. I enjoy reading, shopping and spending time with my family in my spare time. 

My favorite book right now is Chasing Bliss, by Sabrina Eubanks. The reason that I say this, is because that book kept my attention and when it was over, I was looking for more. The story came together perfectly, and I honestly believed that I was a character in the story. 

Sam Doles is a graduate of the historical Edward Waters College in her hometown of Jacksonville, Florida.

While extremely outgoing, comical, and bubbly on one end, she is known to be very no-nonsense and solitary on the other. While too fickle to consider herself as one who has a hobby, the author does enjoy a good read, shooting pool, watching comedies, a nice glass of wine, traveling to different countries, and stimulating conversation. “I leave things for a season and revisit them later,” she says.

A known eccentric, Sam proudly dons her weirdness. “Most hood girls weren’t reading Shakespeare where I come from. I’ve always written poetry, stories, songs, prayers, thoughts, etc. and questioned the subtleties of life. I’m naturally nosey; nothing malicious. That’s just how I’m wired. I ask lots of questions if I’m interested. I’m not big on rumors and hearsay. I was reading Terry McMillan novels in early middle school and started writing a novel when I was 12 or so but never finished it. I still have it. I was writing that by hand, too. I guess that’s my process because I still do that. From a young age, I started having dreams about things before they happened. I’ve always been known for that. It humored me when I learned that I share the same birthday as Edgar Allen Poe. I guess that explains a lot.”

Always known as a skilled writer and storyteller, it didn’t surprise many people around her when she published her first body of work in 2008. “My Theory About The Moon” was her debut novel, which was birthed from a letter she was writing to someone. “I told him that my love for him was as sincere as the moon and realized how dope that sounded.” The rest is history.

I have a strict no excuses policy in life. My work is sound proof that if one wants something and they want it bad enough, they’ll make it happen. When I wrote my first full novel, I did not own a computer. I wrote it by hand first and then typed it as time and opportunity permitted.

Moral of the story: Get it done. By any means necessary. The end.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Reading this book took my literary taste to the next level. I've always been a writer. However, reading this showed me the kind of writer I wanted to be. The imagery, storyline, plot, word usage, the message; just everything about this story confirms why it's a best seller. It deserves to be. I was deeply inspired and its changed how I view my own talents...and God.
